Suhani Dhadphale brings centuries-old Indian folk art traditions into the contemporary world. Trained in the intricate techniques of Rajasthani miniature painting and Kalighat art, she bridges the gap between museum archives and modern wardrobes.
Her work with Kissa began with a simple conversation about pockets — those small, overlooked spaces on clothing that nobody thinks about. Suhani saw them as miniature canvases, perfect frames for the stories she wanted to tell.
Each piece she paints for Kissa takes between 4 to 8 hours of focused work. The brushes she uses are handmade — some with just three or four hairs at the tip, allowing the precision that traditional miniature art demands.
“A pocket is the most intimate gallery in the world. It sits right next to your heart.”
